PewDiePie Vs T-Series: The First Internet Civil War

By: Robert Young

2019

PewDiePie at the time was the biggest creator on YouTube everyone on and off YouTube knew about him through news shows, articles or just childhood he was set to hit 100 million subscirbers in 2019 but he noticed another channel close to passing him. In retaliation he made a music video that to this day is still his most popular video on his channel. This sparked the first Internet Civil war.

Twitter freaked out and promoted PewDiePie to help him get to 100 Million before T-Series. T-Series wasn't a individual creator it was a company, one of many that invaded YouTube. Companies were brand safe and if advertisers saw all these companies on YouTube then YouTube gets ads played on there videos and in turn get more money for the platform. YouTubers after helping the platform grow were abandoned by YouTube once companies came to YouTube, YouTube saw a chance to bring in older viewers, while the younger ones would continue to watch the individual creators. Its also worth noting Music on YouTube is the biggest category and T-Series was a Indian company now at this time Facebook, Google Apple, ect were having a civil war of there own an advertising civil war Facebook even was developing a Wi-Fi network of there own only for Indians because not many people there have Internet. YouTube favored T-Series it was a brand safe or SFW channel so when people came to YouTube in India the first thing they saw were T-Series videos because it was a brand safe channel and the biggest Indian channel. Now this helped people aspire to be YouTubers in India so you see how T-Series got to this point in time now its time to get to the Civil War part.

On every social (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Fiber, Instagram etc) platform people would prompting PewDiePie's channel it became a meme. Some went on to refer to it as Company Vs Creator. PewDiePie was so dedicated to the war that he got Elon Musk to host his show yes that Elon Musk. Some hacked work computers to get the word out. The T-Series CEO was so confident in beating PewDiePie or Felix that he said "it's a matter of pride for all Indians that an Indian YouTube Channel will soon be the world's biggest Channel on YouTube. No amount of spamming will be able to hold back the power of good music" CEO Bhusan Kumar said. Then in early April of 2019 T-Series had filed a court order to get PewDiePie's channel banned in India after a creator there put up billboards and signs promoting PewDiePie and T-Series won this case. PewDiePie denied some of the company's claims saying that it was just a joke while T-Series called it racism. In May of 2020 interview with Sangeeta Tanwar from Quartz India, when asked "What does being the number one channel on YouTube mean to you? Does it help business?" Kumar responded saying "We were never in this tussle to become number one or two with anyone. But all along there were these sarcastic comments from PewDiePie. And that’s how we decided to respond to the comments. I launched the #BharatWinsYouTube campaign, seeking more subscriptions from Indians. For us, this status does not result in any change on the commercial front. However, it changes the perception about who we are. With these developments, T-Series gets promoted. What is heartening is that now we are seeing growth even in countries where people were not watching our channel earlier."

Then one day T-Series passed Pewds for 8 minutes so PewDiePie released another diss track that exposed the real business motel of T-Series with documents that proofed that T-Series started by selling pirated songs and had collusions with the Mafia he also apologized for anyone that he offended in his last song

Then one day T-Series surpassed PewDiePie but the race for 100M subs was still ongoing. Many creators speculated that in October of 2019 T-Series would beat PewDiePie but MrBeast everyone's second favorite YouTuber uploaded a video going on radio shows, and buying billboards to promote PewDiePie he even held up a sign at the super bowl game during a kick off that said SubToPewDiePie to which the ESPN twitter account posting a picture of the sign and some people had marches to promote PewDiePie. then the war would end someone in the U.S spray painted Subscirbe to PewDiePie on a WW2 memorial and next a Christchurch Shooter said "subscribe to PewDiePie" so on April 20, 2019 PewDiePie conceded/surrendered to T-Series the actions by these people were disavowed by Pewds and thus the war ended and T-Series had not only won the war but were the first channel to reach 100 million subscribers on YouTube they hit this milestone on May 29, 2019 as of writing this on 4/4/2021 T-Series has 178 million subscribers with PewDiePie having 109 million this was the last Internet Civil war ever

or so we thought.
